She was one of the top-selling cross gilts at the 2009 WPX.  From the moment these pigs hit the ground, the only thing that could be said was, simply, WOW.  From top to bottom, these pigs are stout-made, heavy boned and full of muscle. These pigs have all of the necessary pieces at this stage to get a barrow man pretty excited.  The majority of the pigs in the litter are beautifully blue belted which gives them an extra unique appearance.

One of our very top York litters for 2010…..Faith is one of our foundation York sows whose pigs rise to the top in every crop.  She was the top-selling bred gilt from Cobb’s online sale in Dec 2006.  Fireproof is a boar we raised (son of Bulletproof) out of the Champion York Gilt at the 2008 WPX and we are absolutely thrilled with his first crop of pigs.  He is a York barrow sire that has the genetic make-up to leave behind great females. Another stellar litter out of Fireproof.  This is the sow that produced the popular litter 60 gilts we exhibited in Duncan this past fall.  This mating to Fireproof is one of her best litters to date. Here is another litter we’ve been anxiously waiting for.  The dam was bred by Ryan Stohlquist (out of the famous Lucy sow) and won the IL jackpot points circuit. She is a littermate to Package at A Cut Above.  This is truly one of the best Hampshire litters we’ve raised…..9 beautiful babies.  Calls are already coming in on this litter.  This one’s worth a drive to Janesville, WI for a look.  Enough said.

Litters 10, 12, and 19 are out of 3 littermate gilts we retained from our most popular litter # 34 last year.  All three were sold early as prospects off the farm and once we had a chance to view them during the summer of 2009, we purchased them back from each exhibitor.  Litter # 34 also produced Alcatraz, our newest herd sire.  Litters this powerful will produce champions with consistency.  Each gilt was bred a little differently but all three litters are extremely powerful.  Which one is the best?  Ron’s pick is litter 19 but that was today.  Last week—it was litter # 10.  The week before that----well, you get the idea!

Finally, here is the very same mating that produced last year’s litter # 34---the dams of litters 10, 12 and 19 AND Alcatraz.  We’d be foolish not to repeat it.  Talk about proven genetic power.  We truly  believe that this litter, top to bottom, is even better than where we were at this time in 2009.  This is a large litter of 13 pigs and the good news is that we’re heavy on barrows this year.
